New Mac

New Mac, happy as can be... Giant screen, super fast :).  Unfortunately I seem to be some kind of techno goon, for blogging on this new Mac seems very different from our old one.  Can't post regular size small resolution pictures. *Sigh* I seem to be in line with the technology from 4 years ago... Hubby will laugh at me when he comes home tonight to show me how to find the right file... :(

9 Months

Not crawling yet, but talking up a storm.  Says "Hi", "Nen Nen" for milk, "Mum Mum" for food, "Mama", claps on demand, nods for "Yes" and shakes head for "No".  He also tries to say "Jie Jie", "Papa" and makes all kinds of conversational sounds. Loves to wave "Bye Bye" to everyone who asks! :)  Finally has a tiny tooth coming up at the bottom...

Mermaid Skirt

Ah Mah loved the material which I used for the Missy Doll and made this beautiful Mermaid Skirt with box pleats for Little A, all in one morning!!  

Hello Missy!

Here's the latest addition to the Black Apple Doll collection: Missy.  Drew inspiration from Ah Mah's 1950s Full Skirt and made the skirt almost completely by sewing machine (*pat pat* on back!). Contemplated not sewing a skirt for the doll, but somehow the doll just did not look complete. 

This one was designed to look like my little Missy complete with hot pink flower hairband.

 

1950s Full Skirt

Little A loves Ah Mah's version of the 1950s Full Skirt complete with flouncy layering underneath.  It was challenging trying to make her take it off... :)

  

Black Apple Doll

Been feeling very "creative" recently.  Mom sews up a storm with the sewing machine, I with my hands making the Black Apple Doll .  Loved the tutorial on Martha Stewart and delighted in making my version of it. Here's my Black Apple Doll - Abby.  

I decided to sew on Abby's face instead of painting it on and added extra details to the doll like the flower hairband.  I also handsewed a poofy skirt for Abby because I knew it was sure to delight my little one. Flower hairband idea from the lovely Miss S who made this beautiful hairband for me and who sews up these beautiful things.

Market Skirt

So my Mom and I have been busy busy busy.  Between "homeschooling" little A this month, caring for the grunting baby and cooking non-stop, our little fingers have been busy working on all sorts of things.  Mom got back into her sewing element again and her first creation on the sewing machine was this lovely Market Skirt by Made.  We love love love Dana's blog and all her sewing ideas.  Her tutorial (see the link) was useful to jump start Mom's creative hands and saved her a lot of time drawing a pattern.

Little A LOVED it, from the buttons, to the big pockets at the side (her request), to the swirly twirly feel of it.  I really should learn to be more adept at the sewing machine... Market Skirts for everyone for Christmas?? Hmmm... ;)
